....................................................................
Our world has changed very rapidly over the last few decades and continues to do so. We’re surrounded by stressors, temptation, danger, obligations and never-ending tasks. This fast-paced lifestyle is having its toll on people’s health, including children and young people, both physically and psychologically.
We invite children and young people to come join us in a relaxed and nurturing environment and learn the basics of self-control through reasoning and intelligence in practice.
Learn the value of connecting with something bigger than you.
Why moderation, modesty and integrity are essential for a fulfilled life.
How to appreciate what you have and strive to make the right choices through reasoning and intelligence to protect yourself from harm and pain.
Learn to develop resilience and control emotions through practical activities.
Learn how to keep yourself focused and centred to achieve your purpose and goals.
Learn about the LEAN principle (Low Emission Activity for Nature).
Learn about zero waste lifestyle, sustainability and how to share resources with others.
Learn about the values of giving, sharing and community.
Learn how to slow down, talk less, focus your attention inward and work on yourself to grow.
Develop a daily recentering and grounding routine from an early age based on the Quran.
Everyone is welcome, it’s an inclusive, safe and nonjudgmental environment. These are universal skills that are based on the unifying principle of Wholeness, Purity and Harmony.
We encourage gradual and gentle self-discovery through reasoning, analytical thinking and growth, not through conventions, inherited traditions or pressure.
The focus is to develop analytical and critical thinking, slow down, balance and resynchronise the right and left sides of the brain, control emotions and get the mind and body to operate together in harmony and peace - not against each other, but together.
We will work to strengthen the connection with the right side of the brain (the imaginative/creative/intuitive side) in children and young people through exercises that nourish abstract thinking, imagination, figurative language, art/craft, writing, reading and creative skills.
The Arabic language:
Arabic is the language of the Quran - The most recited and most memorised intact Holy book of all time.
Arabic is the only reliable key to independently decode the Quran, verify interpretations and minimise the possibility of following conflicting opinions from translations, inherited local traditions and myths.
Arabic, the Conveying Language, is inherently poetic, abstract, figurative, eloquent and non-literal.
The Arabic language is not just another language to learn; it’s an art and an expanding ocean of words and metaphors.
The Arabic language is extremley adaptable and coherent, this is because it uses multiple morphemes (words' building blocks) to create words (like a puzzle/lego) rather than 'one-piece words', and it's entirely based on roots system, whereby every root carries a meaning (which is usually an abstract idea) and out of this idea we generate words that are called derivatives.
Learning Arabic in this way creates associations between ideas and meanings that are grouped together in a logical way. This helps the learner to create links between ideas and their related words.
This process, combined with the learner's mother language in the long term, can potentially create very helpful neurosynaptic links (brain cell connections) and, as a result, enhance neuroplasticity, which is the brain's amazing lifelong ability to continuously rewire itself, a process that is crucial for resilience.
We discourage the use of generic interpretations/translations of the Quran without the ability to independently refer back to the original text in Arabic as it’s simply not possible to interpret the Quran accurately into other languages without distorting the meaning, that’s because the Arabic language is built on a completely different principle, therefore the focus will be on acquiring the Arabic language first to allow the person to study the Quran independently in the future without intermediaries, this requires efforts and dedication, however it’s achievable with determination.
This summer club will continue to run on Saturdays every week starting from August 2026 onwards.
The club is located in a community centre in the South of Edinburgh with access to an enclosed outdoor space that is specially designed for children and young people. There's also a cafe, gardening facilities and other activities that are regularly run by the centre.
